A tabloid columnist and former reporter has remained in critical condition after he was shot Saturday evening, news organizations reported.
Pilipino Star Ngayon (PSN) columnist Nixon Cua, 49, sustained injuries in the head and other parts of the body after four men entered the house of his younger brother Allyxon at Ayala Greenfield Estates around 8 p.m. of July 21, the Philippine National Police in Calamba City, Laguna province said. Nixon’s brother also sustained a gunshot wound in the shoulder.
The four men forcibly took a handbag from Cua’s 21-year-old daughter containing P90,000.00, her iPhone and her mother’s necklace after the shooting, then sped their way to a dim portion of the subdivision.
Both Nixon and Allyxon remain at the Intensive Care Unit of Calamba Medical Center.
As of Monday, July 23, Calamba Police have identified three of the suspects as John Rey Cortez, Darwin Samiano, and Noel Garcia. A P100,000.00 reward was offered by the police for the assailants’ arrest.
Nixon was a former reporter of The Philippine Star, sister newspaper of PSN.
