Formed in 1986, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) is a lateral guild committed to securing the interests of the Filipino working press, and promoting free expression and free press.
NUJP also binds journalists to a covenant to ethical conduct and commitment to the public trust. It promotes and safeguards the economic interest and social well-being of journalists, upgrade their professional skills, raise the standards of their ethical practice, and foster fraternal solidarity with other journalists.
NUJP believes there can be no freedom if journalists exist in conditions of corruption, poverty and fear.
